Viridis Derma – Vascular KTP Laser

We are excited to bring in the Viridis that allows us to treat pigmented lesions, rosacea, spider veins and vascular lesions. Its unique multiple technology delivers three precisely calibrated pulses of decreasing energy at a pulse width which is close to the thermal relaxation time (T.R.T.) of the blood vessel. The thermal action of the laser is confined to a 10mm target, preventing damage to surrounding tissue. The process delivers more total energy than a single pulse, while preserving the epidermis. The device also features Viriscan technology, which delivers laser energy in a predetermined pattern across the treatment area. This ensures that the T.R.T. is repected, that the treatment is homogenous, and that treatment results are reproducible.

How does it work?

The laser light is absorbed by hemoglobin, light pulses are delivered to the vein, causing the vessel to coagulate and subsequently be absorbed by the body.

What areas can be treated?

All areas of the body can be treated. Most commonly performed treatments are on the face and legs.

How long does the procedure take?

It depends on the area and size of the vessel. Generally, it takes 15 minutes per area.

Is it painful?

Anesthesia is not required. The only effect is a hot and tingling sensation that is well tolerated.

What results can I expect?

Most people describe laser vein treatment as feeling like the snap of a rubberband against the skin. After treatment, you can immediately return to normal activities, so long as strenuous activity is avoided for a few days.

How many treatments are required?

Typically 2 to 3 treatments are required and should be performed every 6-8 weeks. Some veins may disappear after a single treatment while others may take longer, however, patient dependence is highly important.

What should I expect?

The general condition of the skin should improve and the number of acneic lesions should decrease. Improvement may become noticeable a few days after the first treatment. Some patients do not notice an improvement until after a few treatments have been performed and a small percentage of patients do not respond to the treatment at all.

How often are treatments performed for optimal results?

Treatments should be provided twice a week. The clinical result, as well as the optimal number of treatments, varies from one individual to another.

Are maintenance treatments required?

A maintenance treatment may be undertaken every 6 months to maintain the improvement.

Aramis Laser - Cystic Acne

The Aramis laser is a glass erbium laser operating at 1540 nm. The laser has multiple control settings that operate to treat both acne and unwanted facial lines and wrinkles. The Aramis laser is FDA-approved for the treatment of both acne, scars, and unwanted lines and wrinkles by dermal remodeling of collagen.

The Aramis laser targets the sebaceous glands in the skin. It has an oil controlling component, which directly affects the activity and formation of inflammatory acne lesions. Generally, one treatment weekly for two months is the standard protocol. Sometimes this can clear up acne or put it into remission for six to 12 months. Dr. Staheli and staff often combine several anti-acne components for a comprehensive skin care program that can totally clear up a patient’s acne.

To treat acne where it begins, the Aramis laser uses a patented wavelength to penetrate the skin’s layers to the depth where sebaceous glands are located. The laser thermally alters the reactors in the sebaceous gland, reducing oil and bacteria production, thereby reducing the size of the gland and the number of resulting acne lesions. Using the aramis also results in a significant reduction in the skin oiliness. This is of particular interest to patients that experience problems while wearing makeup.

To treat acne, a series of 8 treatments are administered in a package, weekly for 2 months. Results are gradual with an approximate 15-20% reduction in the number of lesions after each treatment. The unique contact cooling of the Aramis laser makes the treatment virtually painless, with no need for anesthesia and no associated side effects, ensuring patient comfort and greater compliance.

The Aramis laser is designed to heat the dermis while protecting the epidermis, thus building and stimulating the nature formation of new collagen. The technique is painless, and the resultant thickening of the dermis enhances skin radiance and elasticity. The patented wavelength of the Aramis laser is ideally absorbed by water, allowing treatment to directly target the sebaceous glands, the root cause of acne. How does it work?

Production of new collagen is a natural process, occurring over time. Therefore improvement will not be immediately noticeable. Changes will be gradual and should become noticeable after the second to third treatment.

Is it permanent?

The improvement should stabilize after about 12 months. Maintenance sessions are recommended every six months to maintain result.

What is LATISSE?

LATISSE solution is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker, and darker.

Eyelash hypotrichosis is another name for having inadequate or not enough eyelashes.

How does it work?

LATISSE is believed to affect the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle in 2 ways first, it increases the length of this phase; and second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase. The exact way it works is unknown.

How soon will I see results?

The onset of effect with LATISSE solution is gradual. In the clinical trial, the majority of LATISSE users saw a significant improvement by 2 months.
